Biofilm Methods Workshop

February 5, 2008

Workshop agenda (pdf)

Contact Paul Sturman (406) 994-2102 for details about the Biofilm Methods Workshops.

The toughest part of this workshop is the travel getting here.  Once you arrive, we promise you'll enjoy this hands-on workshop.  Participants are usually from a variety of scientific backgrounds and positions in industry, which contributes to the interdisciplinary learning experience.

Workshops are limited to 10-12 participants so there is ample time and space to work at the bench or microscopes, ask questions, and have fun learning the techniques we use for biofilm research.

A CDC biofilm growth reactor provides coupons with the attached bacteria that are sampled for viable cell counts, cryosectioning and microscopy, including epifluoresence, confocal and scanning electron microscopy.

Participants learn the basics of biofilm in our  workshop, and CBE students and staff have fun teaching it.
