MSU's Center for Biofilm Engineering offers an ideal setting for the interdisciplinary, collaborative research that is the basis for our worldwide reputation in the field of biofilms. Graduate and undergraduate students work under the guidance of the CBE's multidisciplinary faculty in contiguous laboratories to solve problems associated with biofilms in medical, industrial, and environmental contexts. MSU's College of Engineering (COE) honored its faculty and students at its annual awards luncheon on May 2, 2013.
Two CBE faculty were honored with awards. Abbie Richards, associate professor, chemical and biological engineering, received the COE Faculty Award for Excellence in Advising. Sarah Codd, professor, mechanical and industrial engineering, received the COE Lloyd Berg Faculty Mentorship Award.

Kara De León, recent MSU-CBE doctoral graduate in microbiology, was recently featured by Montana State University for her research of the remote hot spots of Yellowstone National Park and the radioactive ground at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Hanford, Washington.
