Dr. Timothy Borgogna is a postdoctoral researcher in the Stewart Lab where he works to understand host immune responses to nascent and mature biofilms on implanted medical devices. Device related biofilms are often resistant to host defenses and antimicrobial therapies leading to chronic and life-threatening infections. Tim’s current focus is on translating in vitro findings into an in vivo mouse subcutaneous implantation model wherein he examines the timing and effect of neutrophil and macrophage recruitment to the implanted surface and surrounding tissue.

Tim earned his PhD in microbiology and immunology at Montana State University and holds a BS in biology from Point Loma Nazarene University.
